Iheanacho and Diego Simeone and Enyimba and 7 Talking Points From Football This Week

image

Better than them all!

Whoever gets compared to Leo Messi and C. Ronaldo automatically makes the news. You must be a big deal to be compared to the gods of football right?

What if, as a player, you’re described as better than these gods? I guessed right. That’s how Iheanacho made the news this week.

A whole lot of other things happened in the football world this week. Incomplete games, surprising results (toothless Real Madrid?), fireworks in Sweden and more.

I’ve tried to single out a handful of them – some that you know and some that you probably missed – and try to have a conversation with you about them. That’s okay right?

Good.

Let’s talk football then.

First on the list,

1. Tottenham Couldn’t Keep Up. Now, They Can’t Win the League Again.
For a while now, only two teams were in contention for the English Premier League title. But after Monday, two got reduced to one – technically speaking of course. Tottenham drew in the game – at home for that matter – against West Brom. One would have expected Spurs to run the Tony Pulis’ men over but they settled for a draw instead. With Leicester leading with 7 points and 3 games to go, Spurs blew their EPL title chances away on Monday. This might just be the closest they’ll ever get to winning the EPL title… or maybe not?

Nigerian Football: From Amodu to Redknapp?

2. Harry Redknapp and the Super Eagles?
You know how people’ll tell you they weren’t expecting a thing to happen? Well, I wasn’t expecting this kind of “thing” to happen. It wasn’t even on the list. But like football, anything can happen in Nigerian Football. The former Portsmouth coach has been contacted as regards becoming the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria. As much as this is supposed to be good news (no more Yusuf and especially Amodu), a question comes to mind:
– But of all people, why Harry? Is he the cheapest available option or what? Or was it because he coached Jordan for two games?
Whatever it is, my fingers are crossed.

image

3. Continental Action Is Affecting Enyimba Badly!
When Enyimba won that match against Etoile du Sahel, it was a relief for Nigerians to see a Nigerian club finally qualify for the group stages of the African Champions League. Their fans must have been happy too. Happy that their team was performing in Africa. But back home, the story is totally different. Enyimba, current champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League, are currently 19th on the table after 13 rounds of games in the league. The Elephants have only been able to play 9 out of those 13, winning just 4. With more continental action, they may have to postpone more of their league games. With more games postponed, they may lose more ground in the league and will find it hard to retain their league title. So much for qualifying for Africa!

image

4. UEFA & Europa Leagues: So far, so good…
UEFA has not disappointed by putting the very best against each other. Villarreal beat Liverpool by a goal and Sevilla played a 2 – 2 draw in Donestsk. Interesting results for the second legs. At this stage, only the best could have made it thus far. But Real Madrid (without their best) failed to score in England against Man. City. This makes the return leg one to anticipate. Will Real run riot at the Bernabeu? Will Man. City shock the world and qualify for the final? Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, have continued to keep a clean sheet at home in this season’s European competition. They kept Bayern Munich out on Wednesday when they won by a lone goal. With the return leg in Germany and with Pep desperate to win the Champions League for Bayern before leaving, will the Bavarians be able to break down Simeone’s tough defense system and win? Speaking of Simeone…

image

5. Diego Simeone and his Iron Men.
After knocking Suarez and co. out of Europe (keeping a clean sheet in that second leg in the process), some stats began to surface about Atletico Madrid. And when they shut out a certain Bayern side, the stats went viral. Check some of them out:

5 – Last five CL home games of @atletienglish:
4-0 vs FC Astana
2-0 vs Galatasaray
0-0 vs PSV
2-0 vs Barcelona
1-0 vs FC Bayern.
Fortress.  – via Twitter

Atletico Madrid’s defensive record under Diego Simeone: 256 games 135
clean sheets Absolutely bonkers!  – via Twitter

Obviously, it’s safe to say some very dogged defending has brought A. Madrid thus far. They seem to be redefining football. Simeone seems to be onto something totally different from what Pep Guardiola discovered. It’s like Diego created the kryptonite for “Total Football’s” Superman. And it is a system working perfectly well. Just maybe attack is no longer the best form of defense. Just maybe.

6. Iheanacho Has the Best Strike Rate in Europe.
I totally disbelieved this at first (sure you did too). But surprisingly, I found stats good enough to prove this point. With 5 goals from just 7 shots on target, Kelechi is the most prolific striker in Europe. He averages a goal every 81.3 minutes he has played. Of all players that have scored 10 or more goals in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season, this is the best rate you will ever find. For a player that starts most games on the bench, this is remarkable. Well done son!

image

7. Why Can’t Man. City Shift Their Game?
The English FA during the week declined Man. City their request to shift their game against Southampton scheduled for Sunday. This was because the game was already listed to be shown live on TV. Man. City coach complained about how this would affect his team’s preparations for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League clash with Real Madrid. He said, “I don’t understand why we cannot play one day before. Why can’t we at least be in the same situation as Real Madrid? We are representing Manchester City but we are also representing England in the Champions League. You don’t want to give advantage to the other team.” In other leagues, they’d even allow the team play on a Friday! But I guess things work differently in England. Little wonder they haven’t been able to do well in Europe in recent times.

Before I forget, feels good to know that Enyeama is showing them in France what Nigerians are capable of.

The legend has scored yet another accolade as the best goalkeeper in France. He also ranked amongst the best 10 goalkeepers in the world! Great stuff.

Please feel free to share your own talking points with me in the comments section. Would be happy to hear from you.

Cheers to a great weekend ahead!

Papi’s Tips: Haugesund To Score First, Roma To Score and more…

Hey guys!

Yesterday was a bit hectic as regards betting. Arsenal drew, Basel drew and didn’t even score. Villarreal failed to score too.

But with all these, I still recorded a 77% success-rate. Not bad eh?

Let’s take a look today’s tip:

Roma vs Napoli (Italy Serie A)
Analysis: Roma have not lost in their last 5 games, winning 3 and scoring 14 goals in the process. So in this game, scoring should not be hard for them.

My Prediction: Roma To Score.

Other Predictions:
– Over 1.5 Goals
– Roma To Score Last Goal.
– Roma Win or Draw

Carpi vs Empoli (Italy Serie A)
Analysis: Carpi have scored 9 and conceded 9 goals too in their last 5 home games. Carpi have also scored consecutively in their last 6 games.

Other Predictions
– Over 1.5 Goals

Randers vs AAB
Analysis: Both teams have only lost once in the last 5 games home and away. They’ve averaged 1.5 goals in their last 5 games too.

My Prediction: AAB To Score. Why? They’ve scored in their last 8 games.

FC Kaiserslautern vs RB Leipzig (Germany 2. Bundesliga)
Analysis: Leipzig have scored 6 goals in their last 5 games. They scored consecutively in their last 4 games.

My Prediction: RB Leipzig To Score.

Cork City vs Shamrock Rovers (Ireland)
Analysis: Cork City have scored 12 times in their last 5 games at home. They’ve conceded just 2. Shamrock have scored 7 times and conceded just 3 in their last 5 away games.

My Prediction: Novara To Score

Haugesund vs Stabaek
Analysis: The home team have won all of their home games this season, scoring 5 times in those 2 games. Stabaek have not won any of their away games this season. They’ve scored twice and conceded 5 times.

My Prediction: Haugesund To Score

Other Predictions
– Haugesund To Score First Goal

Nancy vs Sochaux (France Ligue. 2)
Analysis: Nancy have won 4 of their last 5 games. They’ve scored 9 in the process and conceded just 4.

So let’s get started.

Papi’s Tips: Burnley To Score, Nice To Win Either Half and more…

image

The weekend’s here. Thank God it’s Friday!

With more games to choose from, there are endless possibilities to win… and to lose. Matter-of-factly, you tend to lose more when the weekend comes.

Want to know why?

Because there’s a whole lot of games to choose from. So many games out there calling for your attention. And too much information affect decisions that you make.

That’s why I’ve selected 4 games to feature this Friday. They’re not necessarily the best of the bunch but they’re great games with plenty of possible opportunities.

That’s why I’m here for you. So, let’s start.

Freiburg vs Duisburg (2. Bundesliga)
Analysis: Frieburg is topping the table and they have won 4 of their last 5 games at home. They don’t have scoring problems as they’ve managed to score 10 goals and conceded 6 in those last 5 home games. Duisburg, on the other hand, are rock-bottom of the league. They’ve won once and drawn 4 times in their last 5 away games. In those 5 away games, they’ve scored 7 times and conceded 6 times.

My Prediction: With both teams finding it easy to score goals, there should be plenty of goals in this game. So I’m going for Over 1.5 Goals.

Other Predictions:
– Freiburg To Win Either Half.
– Freiburg To Score First.
– Duisburg To Score.

Preston End vs Burnley (England Championship)
Analysis: The season is almost over and teams are scrambling for every available points. Burnley, currently 2nd placed, will be looking to win this one in their bid to return to the English Premier League. And their away form says it all. They have not lost in their last 5 away games: Winning 4 and drawing once. They have scored 12 times and conceded 7 goals on the road. Preston End is 10th. They have drawn 3 of their last 5 games at home, winning just one and losing once. They’ve scored as much goals in that period (5) as they’ve conceded.

My Prediction: With Burnley chasing an automatic EPL qualification and with their goalscoring record, scoring a goal should not be too hard. Therefore, I predict: Burnley To Score.

Other Predictions:
– Burnley Win Either Half
– Handicap 0:1

Derry City vs Bohemians FC (Ireland)
Analysis: Derry is 2nd on the table. Bohemians occupy the 8th spot. Derry have won all of their last 3 games at home while Bohemians have only won once in their last 3 away games. Derry City have, on the average, scored at least 2 goals per game. They’ve conceded just 1. The Bohemians.seem to not know how to score away goals. They’ve only scored twice in their last 3 away games but they’ve concede 6 goals.

My Prediction: Derry To Score. You know why? They have scored in every of their home games this season.

Other Predictions:
– Derry To Win Either Half

Nice vs Reims (France Ligue 1)
Analysis: It’s some sort of mid-table clash. Nice have won 3 of their last 5 home games while Reims have lost 4 of their last 5 away games. Nice has an impressive goalscori g form. They’ve scored 9 goals and conceded just 4 at home. On the road, Reims have conceded almost thrice as much as they’ve scored (scored 5, conceded 13).

My Prediction: Nice To Score First is the most obvious outcome that comes to mind. And my reason? Reims, in their last 4 home games, have succeeded in conceding the first goals of those games.

Other Predictions:
– Nice To Score
– Nice To Win Either Half.

image

Jimmy's Treble: One of my readers have already used this tips. Have you?

There you have it! 4 games with plenty of options to choose from. So, go on and have fun.

Bonus: One of my readers (Jimmy) asked for my opinion on the St. Johnstone vs Aberdeen game. I discovered that the away team have a knack for scoring goals when they’re away from home. So, as a bonus, I predict Aberdeen To Score.

Select the ones you’re comfortable with and make yourself some extra cash.

P.S: Do not bet with money you can’t afford to lose.

Wishing you all the best! Cheers to a great weekend!

With love,
Papi.

Amodu Shaibu AGAIN? Help!!! We’re Running Around in Circles!!!

image

Amodu again?

There’s something about “that” animal that visits its own puke. At least that what I was told in primary school I think; that there’s an animal that does that.

And there’s something about the ex that tries to “work things out” with his ex. Not all do though. Some think you need to “give away old toys” to the less priviledged.

There’s also something about Nigerian football and the name Amodu Shaibu. If you didn’t know, he has been appointed to be the “interim” manager of the Super Eagles. Or maybe manager and supervisor at the same time.

As annoying as that move sounds to a football lover like me, it feels good to know that Nigeria’s Football House is full of eggheads. They’ve succeeded in making the Super Eagles slide down the pecking order, faster this time.

Of course, you know it. Going back to Amodu is an indication of a couple of things (at least to me):

– Some powerful people who are permanently in the “Glass House” must love that name. The Amodu name. It is the reason why they keep bringing him back and sometimes… going as far as creating circumstances that’ll bring him back. What? Is it not possible? No be Naija we dey? Abegi!

– Amodu has done a lot for Nigeria… so much so that we can’t do without him. Our football can’t live without him, literarily.

Before you conclude that the writer hates our new “interim coach,” he doesn’t. He loves Nigerian football so much. The writer is just allergic to the blatant display of the “running around in circles” sport that the leaders of Nigerian football have suddenly fallen in love with. Blame it on the Nigerian-football love.

And to think that Amodu, knowing that he’ll get kicked out once he qualifies the team for a World Cup tournament again, is confusing.

What kind of man loves that much?

Whatever it is, I can already predict (I’m sure you have too) that he’ll get the boot – again, for the umpteenth time. And I’m sure he knows this too. His experience must keep repeating this fact in his head.
I hope he does well but how can he revamp the Super Eagles with all that “sack music” playing in his head? I mean, how well will you do a job if you knew you’ll get the boot?

I guessed right.

Papi’s Betting Tips: Molde To Score First, Vaduz To Score and more…

image

Speculating on midweek games can be very complex because of two things:

– There are not enough games unlike the weekend.
– You have to make the most of the little available which means probability of error increases (arguments are welcome though).

But yesterday, I recorded a huge success (92% win!). Of all 13 predictions, I got just one wrong.

Not bad for an analyst trying to give you the best eh?

Today, I’m featuring three games with plenty of betting options to choose from.

So, let’s dive right in.

Molde vs Vaalerenga (Norway)
Analysis: Molde is 3rd on the table and they entertain 13th-placed Vaalerenga. Although the league is only 5 games old, Molde have already earned 11 points so far while their opponents have only 3. Molde’s home form has been impressive too. They’ve won their two games at home, scoring 5 times and conceding 3 goals. Vaalerenga have not won any game away from home. They’ve lost all two games away from home, scoring just once and conceding 3 goals. Of course this game has a Molde Win writtten all over it but as always, Papi tries to fish out the sweeter, less-riskier deals for his darling readers (thank me later). So, my predictions?

My Predictions: So far in this young season, Vaalerenga have ALWAYS conceded the first goal in all their away games. Coincidentally, Molde have learnt how to score early goals in their games this season, some as early as the 1st minute! In view of this, I’m predicting Molde To Score First.

Other Predictions:
– Molde Win Either Half.
– Molde Score First and Win.
– Molde To Score in First Half (although this one’s a long shot).

Thun vs FC Vaduz (Switzerland Super League)
Analysis: Thun is 7th on the log while Vaduz is sitting at the bottom of the table. Although they’re 10th on the log, Vaduz have succeeded in scoring in 4 of their last 5 away games. Coincidentally, all those games ended with both teams scoring. Now, guess what? Thun’s last seven games (4 league games and 3 friendlies) ended with both teams scoring! Of course the most obvious expected outcome is Both Teams to Score right?

My Prediction: Vaduz being bottom of the table, it’s almost certain they can’t win this game. That’s why the odds of winning are against them. But they know how to score away from home. And that’s why I’m backing a FC Vaduz To Score outcome.

Other Predictions:
– Over 1.5 goals.
– Both Teams To Score.
– Thun Win Either Half.

Lausanne vs Wohlen (Switzerland Challenge League)
Analysis: Lausanne are currently at the top of the league. In their last 5 home games, they’ve won 2, drawn 2 and lost just once. They have also scored 8 goals and conceded 7. Wohlen on the other hand are not so good away from home. In their last 5 games away, they’ve won just 1 game and lost 3. They’ve also conceded almost twice as many goals as they’ve scored away from home (5 goals scored, 9 conceded).

My Prediction: This league is a random one and any team can spring surprises. So instead of backing any team to win, I’ll go for Over 1.5 Goals. The aim is to go for the less riskier but also profitable possible outcome.

Other Predictions:
– Lausanne To Win Either Half.
– Lausanne To Score First Goal.

I overlooked the Arsenal game on purpose, just in case you’re wondering. You don’t play every game in sight if you want to make money out of betting.

These analysis are meant to help you make smarter betting decisions. Be sure to make further analysis before you make your move.

As I always say, always go for the possible outcome with the highest probabity of happening. That is, out of all, choose the result/outcome that is most likely to happen.

Best of luck! And remember, Do not bet with what you can’t afford to lose.

With love,
Papi.
